Once a month, the RRTC team will post a quick survey on issues related to health and spinal cord injury. This month our focus is on employment post spinal cord injury. These surveys are an easy way for the RRTC team to hear from the SCI community on certain topics. Information from these polls will help the RRTC team understand the needs of the community. Please take a moment to take our poll. Please click here to view our previous polls.

does tetra mean quad?
Thank you for your question. Yes, tetraplegia is also known as quadriplegia.
The only reason I was able to afford to go back to work was because I had a trust fund. That money is gone now but after working for twenty-four years, I can now afford to live on my salary.
I’m neither a Tetraplegic or paraplegic. However, my SCIs DO impact what jobs I can do. In my are, none are willing to make compensations for that. I had to quit one job because of the prolonged standing required and the management refused to allow me to sit down while on the sales floor. Then, we could get into the lack of jobs in the local area.
I’ve been working at my latest job as a part-time teacher for almost 19 years. I would not be able to do it without support from DRS for PCA’s.
There are just too many expenses that are not covered by insurance to work without support.
