The SCI educational media team at NRH is pleased to announce a recent award from the Craig H. Neilsen Foundation to create a “How To” Video Library. This grant will allow us to significantly expand our video offerings for people with SCI. The new library of “How To” videos (HtVs) will provide a variety of models for the newly injured to observe as they work to learn new ways to carry out activities they engaged in before injury. Beginning in January, 2011, we will work with therapists and experienced persons with SCI to develop 90 new HtVs, each 3-5 minutes in length. These videos will model functional skills prioritized by persons with SCI and demonstrated by men and women of various ages, with para- and tetraplegia, from different racial and cultural backgrounds. Narration will be in both English and Spanish. The library will be made freely available online, on DVD, and streamed via social media outlets such as YouTube. Check back after the first of the year to see how the project is progressing!
