About CHDR

The NRH Center for Health & Disability Research

The NRH Center for Health & Disability Research (NRH-CHDR) conducted public domain, peer-reviewed research funded by federal and private organizations for over 15 years. The work of CHDR continues in the programs of the Center for Post Acute Studies, founded at NRH in 2006 and in the NRH Spinal Cord Injury Research Program.

CHDR pioneered a unique program of research that combined quantitative and qualitative methods to provide "big picture" overviews supported by "person level" detail. The center conducted participatory action research from conceptualization to the finished product. CHDR studies informed local, state, national and international policy makers on all aspects of rehabilitation and health for persons with temporary or permanent disabilities.
